The visitor center and rim trail are well worth the effort. You can do the rim as a loop, with a few additional side tracks, by crossing over the suspension bridge and returning via the highway bridge (or vice versa). There are substantial numbers of stairs involved in getting down to water level, which is to be expected as... it's a gorge!
Spectacular adventure! This is truly a no joke wilderness experience with 2 major river crossings, slickrock and boulder scrambling, and an intense climb out. All but completely unmarked.
Awesome hike but can be very strenuous but we'll worth it.
Great trails with great views! Only $5 to park for the day. It's nice to have restrooms at the trailhead. After the 5th view point you can keep walking along the trail and under the highway to the dam and the lake. From there, use the restrooms and head on back.
Wonderful place and views. Good trail with lots of stairs to climb.
